The Northern Powerhouse – promoting the voice of young people across the north

Young people from the Yorkshire and Humber region will be getting together again this week with young people from the North West, at the People’s Museum, Manchester. They will spend the weekend preparing for a series of meetings with decision makers concerning issues related to the Northern Powerhouse development. The young people from Yorkshire and Humber will be representing the 549,000 young people aged between 11 and 19 in our region.

Young People from our region will take over Whitehall

Congratulations to five young people from Yorkshire and Humber on coming in the top 5 of Make Your Mark Champions across the country! Make Your Mark is a national ballot, which took place recently, of young people to choose the issues which will form the basis of campaigning for the next twelve months.

To recognise the massive amount of time and effort they put into to give so many local young people a voice; the British Youth Council have secured a shadowing opportunity with a Minister or Permanent Secretary as part of Whitehall Takeover for each of the five. The event will take place later this month.
