Training is a vital resource for supporting and developing the youth work sector workforce including volunteers. It promotes retention, progression and of course the best possible experience for young people.

The YWU supports and provides training in many ways including –

  • Delivering An Introduction to Youth Work – equal to two full days designed especially for paid and unpaid staff who are new to youth work/working with young people. Core topics covered include – Who are young people? What is youth work? Safeguarding Young People and Session planning & Risk assessments. Additional content can be agreed and the delivery methods are flexible.
  • Delivering An Introduction to Youth Work Train the Trainer (more information coming soon)
  • JNC recognised Level 2 and Level 3 Youth Work qualifications – delivery and IQA
  • In partnership with the NYA, The YWU supports the distribution of the Yorkshire and Humber allocation of the National Training Bursary Scheme for level 2 and 3 training opportunities, directing monies to youth work organisations.
