Meet the Trustees

YWU Trustee Board

All YWU Board Trustees are drawn from the broad youth work and young people’s services field.

Our current Directors/ Trustees are:

Sue Atkins

Sue Atkins - Trustee

Sue, a qualified youth worker retired from Sheffield LA youth Service some years ago and is now the voluntary development workers at Youth Association of South Yorkshire YASY. A tireless and passionate supporter of youth work and young people Sue is active nationally as well as regionally, sitting on the NYA’s ETS committee as a NCVYS representative; attending validations, supervising students from various universities,  is active in ‘In Defence of Youth Work’ as well as her work with the YWU. She recently received a NCVYS national volunteer of the year award.

David Sharp

David Sharp

David is the CEO of North Yorkshire Youth, a voluntary youth organisation working across north Yorkshire running a variety of provision as well as supporting training and development of smaller projects and clubs in less accessible areas of NY. He also runs Carlton Lodge Outdoor centre.

Carol Stone

Carol is the former Head of Service at Calderdale Young People’s Service and also serves on the board of the NYA.

Graham Griffiths

Graham a qualified youth worker who has worked in both the LA and voluntary sectors is now course leader for the Y&C course at Bradford College. He also is a member of the NYA ETS committee is active in the union and In Defence of Youth Work and Choose Youth Campaigns

Anne Gomersall

Anne Gomersall

Anne, a JNC qualified youth worker heads up Youth Voice work in Calderdale and have for many years focused on youth participation. She works closely with the regional Youth Voice Co-ordinator and is well placed to advise on youth work and YV.

Gillian Shepherd

Gillian

Gilliam is a Strategic Development Officer at The Salvation Army.

Yvette Smalle

 

 

Yvette is a Senior Lecturer in Youth and Community Work Development at Leeds Beckett University

Richard Scarbrough

Richard has been the YWU’s patron for over three years attending Board meetings, opening Annual Conferences and doing whatever he can to support and promote the unit’s work in supporting Y&H’s young people. He is also a patron of Safe at Last a homelessness charity working with young people.
